On a balmy Thursday autumn afternoon, HICI held its highly anticipated third session.
The session began with Jason Thai Son Chu presenting his on-going PhD research titled, Enabling Detection DDoS Attack in Vulnerable Network with Visualisation. The research surrounds the investigation of typical DDoS attacks, and the development of a visualisation prototype that could be used to detect them in real time.
“Zombie PCs attack servers every day,” Chu explained. “With a visualisation tool, people in the UK can investigate computers around the world… especially if the people are part of a worldwide company.”
“Zombie PCs attack servers every day,” Chu explained during his presentation.
Constructive questions and discussions were raised during the presentation, including how the outcome of the research could be used to prevent & detect DDoS attacks, its limitation, and whether the methods of validation are effective.
Chu was applauded for his interesting work.
