Enabling Fairer Assessment Strategies On Learning And Teaching With Analytics

Our second presentation today is by Masters by Research student, Rezina Akhter. Her passion is in using data analytics to create a better and fairer marking scheme for students.

“The term of fair marking is debatable,” Akhter explained. “However, it should be noted that this does not reflect on the outcome of the student’s learning.”

 

There are several attributes that can assess if a student has learnt properly. These are what students can do, what students want to achieve it, whether or not students know what it means, is appropriate to the student’s goal, is attainable and can measure if it has been achieved or not.

 

“My method is to use analytics and business intelligence to measure, report and visualise these data.”
