Simeon Simoff opened our meeting this week with an inspirational speech titled, The Art and Science of Designing Visualisation for Decision Making, in which he explained a selection of research that he has conducted in the past.
“This is something that would hopefully assist you,” the professor began to the group of HDR students.
Simoff opening his speech.
The motivation behind the research were the reliance on perceptual and cognitive characteristics of the brain, democratisation of visual information communication, and visual language.
“Communicating should be possible through attractive visualisation,” he continued. “And it should have clear semantics, good interpretation and have adequate speed to communicate the language.”
The content of his speech drew from the reflection of two cases: Visualisation of Data About Interactions in Multi-Disciplinary Teams and Visualisation Of Data Interactions Between Healthcare Practitioners And Patients.
